Climate:
Temperatures vary mainly between day and night and are about the same throughout the year. They lie between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius during the day and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius during the night.

Best travel months are december through may. This is the dry season with constant sunshine and north east winds of 15 to 25 knots.

During the remainder of the year you can expect nice weather.  From May to November there are frequent but short rain showers that stop as fast as they started.

Clothing:
Light summer clothes made of cotton or linen are suggested year round.

Health:
According to the WHO there are no immunization requirements to visit Colombia or Panama.  If you plant to travel to the interior, especially rain forest areas, you should consider yellow fever and malaria immunization.

Food and Drink:
Cartagena offers a variety of restaurants and entertainment possibilities for every taste and budget.  Most sites are within the historic center of Cartagena. 
 

San Blas: The islands do not have restaurants, but during the day, indigenous people offer food at the beaches.

Safety:
Cartagena is considered to be a safe travel destination. Colombia's internal conflict is restricted to the interior of the country.  Like many other cities, Cartagena has its share of pick-pockets which is mostly explained by the large contrast between the socially weak and the upper class.  Vigilance and understanding for these social problems are, as always, the best prevention.
